Turntable Health was Iora’s first membership-based primary care practice. Through an exciting partnership with the Downtown Project (led by Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh), the practice opened its doors in December 2013 to all members of the thriving Las Vegas community. Due to the economic challenges of the Las Vegas market, Turntable Health decided to close the Downtown Las Vegas location in January of 2017.
The Freelancers Union, Iora Health and Collective Primary Care have partnered to offer a family practice created for individuals who receive health insurance through a Freelancers Insurance Company health plan. The practice opened in Brooklyn, NY in Fall 2012 and a second location was added in lower Manhattan in January 2014. We’ve implemented our radically changed care model and adapted it to fit the needs of busy Freelancers in New York City, incorporating more wellness visits, individual health coaching sessions, and free wellness groups (such as yoga and meditation) open to both Collective Primary Care members and the Freelancers Union community. With the introduction of the Affordable Care Act, The Freelancers Union discontinued their insurance offering. With this shift, Iora and the Freelancers amicably chose to end their partnership at these practices, working together to help Freelancers build a medical practice to continue serving members.

The roots of Iora go back to this small built-from-scratch primary care practice founded in June 2004 in Arlington, MA. Led by Dr. Rushika Fernandopulle, Iora’s CEO, this is where we first implemented and improved several aspects of our care including the use of Health Coaches (called care partners then), groups, patient email, and proactive population management. Far ahead of its time, the practice was eventually closed because of opposition from the incumbent health care system (click here for details), but many of its features still survive in our existing Iora practices.
Intensive Outpatient Care
Program Partner: The Boeing Company
The Boeing Intensive Outpatient Care Program (IOCP) was a pilot project co-led by Dr. Rushika Fernandopulle, CEO of Iora Health, as part of a predecessor company called Renaissance Health. Working closely with Mercer Consulting and Regence Blue Shield, the program worked with Virginia Mason, The Everett Clinic, and Valley Medical Center to provide intensive primary care to sick Boeing employees and their spouses in the Puget Sound area. The practices demonstrated significant improvements in patient experience, clinical outcomes, and work productivity, along with 20% lower net health care costs relative to a control group.
